Georgetown, Guyana 28 March 20204 January 2020 / Prof Hilary / Leave a comment Georgetown is the capital of Guyana, a former British and Dutch colony. This is in the style of some indigenous gathering place. The lighthouse.Queen Victoria at the court. The national monument for the national heroes, including its first president, a son of parents from Hong Kong. The Prime Minister’s residence. Not allowed to take pictures close up.It’s a pretty walkable place. The market. Not actually that chaotic. The Bank of Guyana on the banknotes.A free monkey in the zoo.A manatee! I waited for an hour to see one pop up.Harpy eagle, inspired Harry Potter‘s phoenix. The red house. The slaves rebellion monument.Sloth in the national museum. Not really worth visiting. The zoo was my favourite place.Really hungry for grass. The most iconic building.A bird (not this one) bit my phone! The sea wall as the city is below sea level.
