El Fuerte is a small magical town in the atate of Sinaloa, Mexico near Los Mochis. It was the most important commercial and agricultural centre in northwestern Mexico for 3 centuries. Today, it’s a tourist town that is sometimes hindered by cartel violence in other parts of the state.

Los Mochis is a city in northern Sinaloa at the end of the Chihuahua railway that passes through the Copper Canyon. It was originally founded by American socialists who wanted to create a socialist utopia. It used to be under the hegemony of El Fuerte, which is today a much smaller town. It has produced many world-class boxers.

Chiapa de Corzo is a small magical town that is within the metropolitan area of Tuxtla, the state capital of Chiapas, Mexico. It was originally a ceremonial site for the natives (oldest burial site of Mesoamerica has been found here), but became the very first city and capital founded by the Spanish. The natives, called by the Aztecs the Chiapas people, resisted the Mayas and Aztecs for centuries, and fiercely fought the Spanish until they were almost entirely exterminated. The natives believe that their leader is still alive after centuries, being a part of the tree where he was hanged. During the second French invasion, this city successfully defeated the French and received the title “heroic city”.
Last December, I was trying to fly back to Mexico (where I’ve been legally residing for almost 8 years) after a week-long vacation in the EU. TUI Fly wouldn’t let me check-in despite my presenting 2 valid passports with visa-free entry to Mexico in addition to my completely valid permanent resident ID card from Mexico. At one point they even mentioned Brexit as a reason for not letting me fly to Mexico…?
They simply insisted that my card expired when there’s no expiration date, and as confirmed by the Mexican Embassy is even legally impossible to expire under Mexican law! They also didn’t tell me my rights at the airport and said I wasn’t allowed to take pictures because it was against “international laws”.
I managed to get back to Mexico on another airline without any issues because I did have all the necessary documents to do so, but even after the Belgian consumers’ council emailed them multiple times to remind them of their legally required compensation, they insist simply that I didn’t have the correct documents, despite their unmistakable mistake.
On that day, and in 2 subsequent emails, they said they would give me a reimbursement of the ticket but not only have they not done so after so many months, they also wouldn’t give me a timeframe!
I hadn’t taken TUI before and I sure will never fly with them. I would warn against doing business with them.
En décembre dernier, j’essayais de rentrer au Mexique (où je réside légalement depuis près de 8 ans) après une semaine de vacances dans l’UE. TUI Fly ne m’a pas laissé m’enregistrer malgré ma présentation de 2 passeports valides avec entrée sans visa au Mexique en plus de ma carte d’identité de résident permanent du Mexique entièrement valide. À un moment donné, ils ont même mentionné le Brexit comme raison pour ne pas me laisser voler au Mexique… ?
Ils ont simplement insisté sur le fait que ma carte expirait alors qu’il n’y avait pas de date d’expiration, et comme l’a confirmé l’ambassade du Mexique, il est même légalement impossible d’expirer en vertu de la loi mexicaine ! Ils ne m’ont pas non plus dit mes droits à l’aéroport et ont dit que je n’étais pas autorisé à prendre des photos parce que c’était contraire aux “lois internationales”.
J’ai réussi à rentrer au Mexique avec une autre compagnie aérienne sans aucun problème car j’avais tous les documents nécessaires pour le faire, mais même après que le conseil belge des consommateurs leur ait envoyé plusieurs e-mails pour leur rappeler leur indemnisation légalement requise, ils insistent simplement sur le fait que Je n’avais pas les bons documents, malgré leur erreur manifeste.
Ce jour-là, et dans 2 e-mails suivants, ils ont dit qu’ils me rembourseraient le billet mais non seulement ils ne l’ont pas fait après tant de mois, mais ils ne m’ont pas non plus donné de délai !
Je n’avais jamais pris TUI auparavant et je ne volerai certainement jamais avec eux. Je vous déconseille de faire affaire avec eux.
En diciembre pasado, estaba tratando de volar de regreso a México (donde resido legalmente durante casi 8 años) después de unas vacaciones de una semana en la UE. TUI Fly no me permitió hacer el check-in a pesar de presentar 2 pasaportes válidos con entrada sin visa a México además de mi tarjeta de identificación de residente permanente completamente válida de México. En un momento incluso mencionaron el Brexit como una razón para no dejarme volar a México…?
¡Simplemente insistieron en que mi tarjeta venció cuando no hay fecha de vencimiento y, según lo confirmado por la Embajada de México, es incluso legalmente imposible de vencer según la ley mexicana! Tampoco me dijeron mis derechos en el aeropuerto y dijeron que no podía tomar fotografías porque iba en contra de las “leyes internacionales”.
Me las arreglé para regresar a México en otra aerolínea sin ningún problema porque tenía todos los documentos necesarios para hacerlo, pero incluso después de que el consejo de consumidores de Bélgica les envió varios correos electrónicos para recordarles la compensación legalmente requerida, insisten simplemente en que No tenía los documentos correctos, a pesar de su inconfundible error.
Ese día, y en 2 correos posteriores, me dijeron que me devolverían el billete pero no solo no lo han hecho después de tantos meses, ¡tampoco me dieron un plazo!
No había tomado TUI antes y seguro que nunca volaré con ellos. Yo advertiría contra hacer negocios con ellos.

Iztaccihuatl is Mexico’s third-highest peak and a dormant volcano between the states of Mexico and Puebla, very close to the second-highest peak Popocatépetl, an active volcano. It’s 5215m in height and is easily accessible from Paseo de Cortéz (with many tours from Mexico City), allegedly where the Conquistador Cortéz first saw the Valley of Mexico, in today’s Amecameca. The name means “white woman”, a reference to the snow cap that resembles one. It’s the lowest point of Mexico with a permanent glacier. According to Aztec/Mexica legend, Iztaccihuatl was a princess born to warrior king Tizoc.
